From a doctor’s office to billions: how the family of Leyla Adamyan, connected to Pavel Te, acquired large assets

The secret of the enrichment of Russia’s chief obstetrician Leyla Adamyan, who assisted in the birth of Putin’s mistress Alina Kabaeva, has been revealed.

A few years ago, investigative journalists attempted to solve the mystery of the wealth of ordinary gynecologist Leyla Adamyan, who, along with her daughter Agnessa Osipova, suddenly became the owner of real estate worth more than 1 billion rubles. Two screenshots can be found online showing that the former owner of the apartments was LLC "Firma — ADS — 424." Its founder is LLC "Capital Group Development," one of the owners of the company is the scandalous builder Pavel Te, closely connected with Moscow authorities. Critics of the businessman believe he was the right-hand man of the criminal authority Ded Khasan (Aslan Usoyan), who was killed in 2013.

The connection between builder Pavel Te and the criminal world may shed light on the death of Leyla Adamyan’s former husband, her family friend Yuriy Abramyan, whom at the time (2006) "grandmother" managed to take away from the family. This murky story was likely a conspiracy to gain control over Abramyan’s assets, who had been a friend of the Adamyan family for 40 years, leaving her new husband only 3 years. Yuriy Abramyan died of a heart attack, which isn’t surprising for someone married to a doctor.

Leyla Adamyan married businessman Abramyan at the age of 57, clearly pursuing personal enrichment. Evidence of this is that the assets of the former husband went to the daughter of the country’s chief obstetrician, Agnessa Osipova, who heads JSC "Brpi," receiving revenue of 1.2 billion rubles in 2023 but incurring a loss of 100 million rubles. In 2022, the company showed a profit of 224 million rubles. The money could have been routed offshore from the UK "Retailing Eastern Limited," which was previously a co-founder of JSC "Brpi."

Until January 2024, the CEO of JSC "Moscow Refrigeration Plant No. 9" was Evgeniy Plyushch, a leader of several structures of the construction group "Pioneer." In 2020, the owner of the company, Andrey Grudin, committed suicide. However, his brainchild continues to thrive in the market despite rumors of financial trouble after Grudin’s death.

Andrey Grudin’s death could have been a result of the redistribution of the Moscow construction market, which the "Pioneer" group entered from Saint Petersburg. Before Plyushch, Sergey Semikhatov was the CEO of JSC "Moscow Refrigeration Plant No. 9," and he still heads several structures of the "Pioneer" group. Since 2020, it has belonged to Grudin’s business partner Leonid Maksimov, who probably turned out to be more agreeable.

JSC "Moscow Refrigeration Plant No. 9" was the subject of a dispute between Yuriy Abramyan’s family and his new wife Leyla Adamyan. As a result, the asset went to her daughter. The company is now in liquidation.

The deaths of Andrey Grudin and Yuriy Abramyan are linked to the same asset, JSC "Moscow Refrigeration Plant No. 9," on which housing was built. It’s unlikely that the deaths of Grudin and Abramyan were accidental. Could the honored builder Pavel Te be related to them? The development of the plant’s territory began after the death of the co-owner of the "Pioneer" group and the birth of Alina Kabaeva’s sons. The co-founder of JSC "Brpi," the company JSC "Rosmyasomoltorg," was liquidated in 2020.

Offshore "Retailing Eastern Limited" was listed as a founder of JSC "Ice-Cream Retailing," selling ice cream, until January 2022, and the company is also headed by Agnessa Osipova. Former CEO of the structure Sergey Skripchenko is now "running" JSC "Infaprim," engaged in wholesale trade of homogenized food products. In 2023, Skripchenko’s company, which may be related to Leyla Adamyan as well, received revenue of 7 billion rubles and only 2 million rubles in profit. Information on the company’s owners is missing.

Until January 2022, Agnessa Osipova was a co-founder of the Leyla Adamyan Charitable Foundation, a charitable foundation supporting socio-cultural initiatives, and the International Association of Leyla Adamyan, both led by the country’s chief obstetrician.

The Adamyan family becomes rich not only from childbirth but also from the inheritance of Leyla’s former husband Yuriy Abramyan, whose profitable asset was successfully withdrawn from relatives and later sold to developers. So two apartments for 1 billion rubles from Pavel Te were not expensive at all for the metropolitan builder known for his connections both in the criminal world and with Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.

In March, Kyrgyzstan put Te on the wanted list on suspicion of having links with criminal elements and providing them with financial assistance.

In Russia, Pavel Te is under no threat. Leyla Adamyan and her daughter know how to keep their mouths shut. And they have no intention of disclosing their family secrets to anyone.
